Entertainment around the area

Rocker Geoff Tate, original lead singer of progressive-metal band Queensrÿche, leads the pack of entertainment highlights hitting local and regional stages over the next couple of weeks.

Tate, who recorded 12 studio albums with Queensrÿche and one with his alternate version of the group, performs at Penn’s Peak. The singer and his band will play, in full, Queensrÿche’s 1988 concept album “Operation: Mindcrime.” The Peak will also host the latest Mountain Beer & Wine Festival.

Among other entertainment, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” performer Colin Mochrie and comedy hypnotist Asas Mecci bring “Hyprov: Improv Under Hypnosis” to the Sherman Theater. For those seeking early spooks for Halloween, the State Theatre hosts “The Vampire Circus.”
