State police at Hazleton - crashes
State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:
• Two vehicles were damaged in a sideswiping incident at 5:28 p.m. Sept. 9 on North Chestnut Street, Tresckow, Banks Township. Police did not provide the name of the driver or the owner of the vehicle that was sideswiped.
Police said a 2007 Honda Odyssey traveling south struck a legally parked 2017 Subaru Crosstrek.
The Honda had a damaged tire, while the Crosstrek had side damage.
Police said the driver of the Honda was cited after the incident.
• Matthew A. Recker, 48, of Effort, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:43 p.m. Sept. 19 on Interstate 80 westbound in Butler Township.
Police said he complained of pain on his left side but did not require a medical services transport from the scene.
They said the crash occurred when Recker was driving a 1996 Chevrolet that attempted to merge lanes and was struck by a 2016 Ford F-150 operated by Joseph W. Nebbia, 26, of Bloomsburg. After the impact, the Chevrolet rotated clockwise and continued onto the shoulder of the road, where it came to rest against a tree.
Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Nebbia was uninjured, police said.
• Bruce A. Herman, 31, of Weatherly, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 4:10 p.m. Sept. 14 on Leslie Run in Lehigh Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
The said the crash occurred happened when he was driving a 2011 Jeep Compass at a high rate of speed while attempting to negotiate a right curve in the highway. They said the Jeep traveled off the south side of the road and went about 100 feet into a field, where it struck the rear of a building.
The Jeep had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Herman was cited after the crash, according to police.
