The Rev. Robert J. Skurla, pastor of SS. Peter and Paul’s Greek Catholic Church, Palmerton, has been transferred to Minersville. He assumed his duties in Palmerton in 1961 and served the parish for 2-1/2 years.

The Minersville parish is under Bishop Stephen Kocisko, head of the new Passaic Diocese, and was canonically created on Sept. 19 by the apostolic delegate, Archbishop Egidio Vagnozzi, Rev. Skurla will become pastor of the church.

While serving in Palmerton, he was the chaplain of the American Legion and also served county chaplain. He was also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2522, as well as a member of the Blue Ridge Country Club and Sokol Club.

His transfer will become effective on Sept. 25.
