Blockers donates to pool, car group
Blockers Collision Center of Lehighton and Jukebox Cruisers recently presented a check for $953 to Baer Memorial Swimming Pool.
Last month, the two held a car show along South Eighth Street by The Grove and the Lehighton Recreation Center.
Joe Curran Sr., a charter member of the Jukebox Cruisers, said the group was pleased to divide the proceeds from the event between the Jukebox Cruisers and Baer Memorial Swimming Pool.
“It’s a good joint venture,” Curran Sr. said. “We like doing stuff for the community.”
Borough recreation director Tom Evans expressed his appreciation toward the Jukebox Cruisers.
“This is the second year they (held the car show),“ Evans said. “This will be used for new doors for the pump house for more security.”
Joe Curran II, senior technician, Blockers Collision Center, praised Evans for the job he does at Baer Memorial Swimming Pool.
“Tom spends countless hours to have a place for people to come,” Curran II said. “The pool has come a long way; it looks very nice.”
In turn, Evans thanked Blockers Collision for the donation.
“They’ve done a lot of work for us over the years,” Evans said. “They’re just a great company to work with.”
Curran, who joined the Jukebox Cruisers in 2001, said that the group will hold its 25th anniversary next year.
