State police at Frackville

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 47-year-old Coaldale woman was cited for assault with a weapon after police were called to an altercation at 2:35 p.m. Aug. 19 on West Howard Avenue, Coaldale.

Police said the victim is a 27-year-old Coaldale woman.

They said the two were involved in an argument that turned physical. During the altercation, police said, the suspect threw kitchen scissors at the 27-year-old, striking her in the left arm and causing a small cut.

• A 43-year-old Lansford man was charged with illegal possession of a firearm (as a convicted felon) after police responded to an incident at 1:07 p.m. Sept. 8 on West Ruddle Street in Coaldale.

Police said they made contact with a 59-year-old Coaldale woman, who told them a firearm was stolen from her residence. She reported that the suspect arrived at her residence and handed her a Maverick Arms Model 88 12-gauge shotgun in lieu of her stolen handgun.

Police said that upon further investigation it was discovered the man is a convicted felon not allowed to possess a firearm.
