TASB praises longtime members

Four Tamaqua Area School Board members were recognized for their long years of service as school directors by the Pennsylvania School Board Association.

Christine Griffith, of PSBA, presented plaques and certificates to Larry Witting, board president, and director Dan Schoener, 30 years; Bryan Miller, 20 years; and Melanie Dillman, 10 years.

“Serving on the school board is a significant responsibility,” Griffith said. It involves thoughtful decision making, collaboration and a strong commitment to supporting students in school. The individuals we are recognizing tonight have consistently given their time and energy to help guide their district and support educational opportunities for all.

“I’m honored to present these plaques and certificates to the individuals who have shown outstanding commitment to public education in Pennsylvania.”

The board on Tuesday also approved a resolution to vote for a list of candidates for the PSBA Board, PSBA Insurance Trust and PSBA Steering Committee.

The board also appointed Witting and board member Thomas Bartasavage as voting delegates to the PSBA Delegate Assembly.
