Local Roundup: Results from Sept. 16
Northern Lehigh, Pleasant Valley and Tamaqua all picked up commanding wins in girls soccer action on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs blanked Catasauqua, the Bears downed Pocono Mountain East, while the Raiders shut out Marian.
Also, four area volleyball teams posted wins — Jim Thorpe, Marian, Lehighton and Panther Valley.

Northern Lehigh ended a six-game losing streak, as the Bulldogs cruised to a 5-0 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.
Natalie Moffitt and Tegan Simms paced the Bulldogs, as both registered two goals and an assist.
Stella Regan also scored a goal for the winners.

Shaylee Gormley’s first-half hat trick helped spark Tamaqua to an 8-0 Schuylkill League shutout win over visiting Marian.
Katie Fredericks contributed to the Blue Raiders attack with two first-half goals, and also contributed two assists.
Gormley picked up an assist, while Gabby Chistakoff and Sophia Sitlinger both ended with a goal and a helper.

Jim Thorpe rallied from a 2-1 deficit to gain a Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.
Kimora Steales-Griffith led the Olympians with 17 kills, while Remy Gorski had 12 and Abbey Kuhn had 10. Maura Malaska collected 36 assists and added seven aces and 11 digs.

Isabella Horvat recorded 10 aces and eight digs for the Fillies, and reached 500 career digs in the process. Caydense Smith led the winners in aces with 12.
Abby Weston had nine assists for the Wreckers with nine assists, while Kelly Reiner chipped in two kills and seven digs.

Jaelynn Browdy gave Orsulak support with nine kills and 25 assists, while Caroline Breslin showed up everywhere on the Panther scoresheet with seven kills, six aces, 14 digs and three blocks.

The Lehighton and Palmerton boys each went 2-1 during a multi-team Colonial League meet at Pen Argyl.
Connor Hibell of the Bombers captured first place with a time of 16:39.13, and was one of four Palmerton runners to finish in the top 20.
The Indians also had four top 20 placements, including Elijah Pagotto with a team-best 17:23 time that put him third among all runners.
In the girls competition, Lehighton’s Claudia Pagotto turned in a second-place performance, while Payten Fornaro of Palmerton captured third.

The Tiger boys scored a 3-1 mark with wins over Moravian Academy (15-48), Palisades (23-4) and Saucon Valley (27-30), while the girls gained wins over Moravian Academy (15-48) and Palisades (21-40).
Rosalia Nestor led the way for the Tigers, placing third in a time of 20:00.47.
The top NW boy was Noah Griffith, who finished 11th.

Lillian Klotz finished with six saves in goal for the Indians.
