Monroe Co. public safety day planned

A Public Safety Day is being planned for Sept. 27.

During the Monroe County commissioners meeting on Wednesday, Commissioner Sharon Laverdure announced the event.

The Monroe County Control Center Office of Emergency Management will be holding the Public Safety Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Public Safety Center at 100 Gypsum Road in Stroudsburg.

Laverdure said this annual event is fun for children and adults of all ages.

“They have a kids’ zone. They have demos, and they have much more to show you,” she said.

The poster for the event shows fire fighters putting out fires, and climbing a wall and rescuing a dog.

There will emergency vehicles there, too, such as fire trucks and ambulances, and Miller Keystone Blood Center will be holding a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Food vendors and first responders interested in participating in the event can find forms on the website. For more information, contact Sam Elliott at selliott@monroecountypa.gov or go to https://www.monroecountypa.gov/departments/office-of-emergency-management/resources/public-safety-day.
