Two people were seriously injured Sunday afternoon when involved in a sport utility vehicle crash in Franklin Township.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. as a male and female were traveling in the area of 250 Plantation Drive when the driver lost control, rolling the unit.

The victims were treated at the site by Lehighton paramedics before being flown from the scene by LifeFlight 6 and Medevac 7 to the Lehigh Valley Hospital trauma center in Allentown.

Franklin Township firefighters assisted at the scene before setting up a landing zone in the area of Forest Street.

Franklin township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene, shutting down the roadway. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
