The Carbon County Board of Commissioners today appointed a county administrator for the first time in the history of the county.
He is Mortimer Smedley, Lehighton, a former Lehighton borough manager who has been serving in the Office of Planning and Development.
According to a press release presented by the commissioners, “This position is a highly-responsible one, requiring the performance of a wide variety of administrative duties in assisting the county commissioners in the management of county services.”
Smedley will assist the board in the supervision, planning, coordination and implementation of county policies and activities.
