Lehigh Township Police Log

August was a busy month for emergency services personnel in Lehigh Township, according to a report released by the township’s police department.

Police said they investigated 19 motor vehicle crashes and responded to 12 domestic incidents.

Officers also provided 93 assists to emergency medical services personnel, were called to nine alarm calls and 12 reckless driver complaints, made eight welfare checks, and responded to 13 suspicious activity complaints and 17 animal complaints. Police said there were also 30 9-1-1 hang-up calls made to the department.

Among the incidents police responded to were the following:

• Police were dispatched to the area of North Cottonwood Road for a physical domestic. They said a man left the scene before police arrived but was later stopped in a neighboring jurisdiction. The female and juvenile victims were interviewed and received medical attention for injuries. Upon completion of police investigation, the man was charged with assault.

• Police were dispatched to Heritage Village Mobile Home Park for a mental health call. After exhaustive efforts by responding officers, as well as assistance from state police crisis negotiators, Northampton County Crisis and a neighboring jurisdiction drone unit, a peaceful resolution to the matter was reached.

• Police were dispatched to the 4600 block of West Mountain View Drive for a domestic incident. Responding police units arrived on the scene and conducted an investigation into the allegations. Upon completion of the investigation, a woman was informed she would be charged with harassment for the incident.

• Police were dispatched to the area of North Cottonwood Road for a domestic incident. It was determined the incident was related to the aforementioned incident in the same area. After conducting an investigation of the incident, police arrested a man for burglary, criminal trespass and stalking.

• Police were dispatched to the area of Steeple Road for a domestic report. Police responded and spoke with the victim. The suspect was no longer on the scene but police said the man would be cited with harassment as a result of the incident.

• Police were dispatched for a terroristic threats call involving two juveniles. The case was investigated and charges will be filed against the offending party.

• Police were dispatched to the Mountain View Mobile Home Park for a burglary in progress. Police were advised the suspect had left the scene before their arrival.

Responding units investigated the incident and determined charges were appropriate. However, the victim later told police, upon further consideration, they did not want charges filed.

• Police were dispatched to the area of Timberline Road for a rabid cat attacking the caller. The responding unit arrived on scene and determined the cat was rabid, as it began to attack the police cruiser. The situation was resolved peacefully by police.

• Police came across a tree house on fire in the area of North Cottonwood Road. The Lehigh Township Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and put the fire out.
