TOPS meetings

Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, host two Take Off Pounds Sensibly meetings on Wednesdays. The first TOPS meeting is at 10 a.m. The second is at 5:30 p.m.

Still stitching

The Knit & Crochet group at Zion Lutheran Church meets at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. It started in November 2010.

According to the group, the work of stitches for others includes prayer shawls and lap blankets for anyone in need, but also items donated to/for various charities.

Over the years the group has donated preemie caps, baby blankets, chemo caps, sweaters, scarves, mittens, helmet liners, Christmas stockings, ornaments, leprosy bandages, amputee stump covers, animal mats, knitted knockers, shrugs, Izzy dolls and baptismal cloths.

WE Missions

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Brodheadsville is holding its Community Sunday Supper at 2:30 p.m. this Sunday.

The following day, after the 12:10 p.m. Mass, the church will hold its Community Luncheon at 1 p.m.

AA meeting

Zion Lutheran Church hosts AA meetings the second and fourth Thursday this month, beginning at 7:30 p.m. In October it will be the first, third and fourth Thursday of the month.

Fusion Festival

Middlecreek Christian Church, Kresgeville, has announced its Fusion Festival happening Friday through Sunday.

The church is inviting folks for a free weekend of music, food, ministry, fun, games and more.

Love offerings will be accepted any time during the event to help with costs.

People are invited to bring their own camping gear and camp.

Friday begins at 5 p.m. with dinner and family games followed by a movie, “The Forge.” The evening ends with a campfire Bible study.

Saturday will be filled with a variety of activities including breakfast at 8 a.m., games, three music groups and various activities.

Pastor Joe Pine and family will share their love of snakes and discuss Scriptural messages concerning them. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. More activities will follow, including a campfire Bible study.

Sunday starts with breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by worship service at 10:30 a.m.

Eldred cleanup

Eldred Township will hold its fall cleanup on Friday, from 7 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

There are tire disposal fees.

All other services are free to Eldred residents, and metals go to recycling.

Christmas prep

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, is beginning its practice Saturday for the Children’s Christmas Musical program. Performances are scheduled during both the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Dec. 21.

Kickball picnic

The Men’s Group at St. Matthew’s ECC, Kunkletown is having a group kickball picnic, Saturday. For more information, call 610-381-2442.

Concert Saturday

Effort UMC is hosting a concert in the pavilion Saturday featuring Eric McClean.

A light fare dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. The concert starts at 6 p.m. A free-will offering will be collected for the band. Attendees are reminded to bring a lawn chairs and family and friends to the event.

St. Peter’s events

Saylorsburg’s St. Peter’s UMC will have a time of fellowship after its 9 a.m. worship service Sunday.

On Sept. 20, the church will host a flea market from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. For more details, call the church.

And on Nov. 15, there will be a quilt and crafts show, with crafters limited to 12. So far the church has gourd birdhouses and painted glassware, wire wrapped lapidary jewelry, knitted items, botanical soaps and creams, handcrafted wooden jewelry boxes, local historical framed photos, and handcrafted all occasion cards.

A beautician will be on site to do “FAIRY HAIR” for free. The church is still in need of other diverse, original and unique crafters, as well as kitchen workers to serve hot dogs, soups, coffee and beverages, and baked goods.

Mortgage done

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is anticipating a mortgage burning debt freedom celebration on Sunday in the parish hall after the 10:30 worship service.

The hall was completed in 2002. Attendees are invited to bring a dish to share as the celebration takes place.

Grief support

The Brodheadsville Area Support Group, as hosted by St. Luke’s Hospice Bereavement Program, is slated to meet at the Western Pocono Community Library from 1-2:30 p.m. Sept. 17.

Free dinner

Zion Lutheran Church is hosting its monthly free community dinner from 5-6 p.m. Sept. 17. It is a drive-thru event during which people can pick up a meal. All are welcome.

Day of Caring

Pocono Mountain United Way’s Day of Caring will be held Sept. 18. Registration is open. Volunteers can register at VolunteerMonroe.org.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effort, will be ending its hoagie sale Sunday. The pickup date is Sept. 19.

Farmers market

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hosting a farmers market from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 20.

People can visit local community farmers and artisans and view their respective displays at the market.

Family movie time

St. Matthew’s EC Church, Kunkletown, is hosting a Family Movie Afternoon from 3-5 p.m. Sept. 20.

Shown will be “WALL-E,” a story of fun, adventure and meaningful lessons about caring for God’s creation and one another.

Musicians needed

PVHS grad Mike Piersa announced that musicians are wanted at the National Museum of Industrial History to help honor the legacy of the Bethlehem Steel Company Band.

Basket raffle

The 2025 Senior Center Basket Raffle and Bingo Fundraiser, sponsored by Support Services for Seniors, will take place Sept. 28 from noon-2 p.m. at Blue Ridge Estate Winery on Blue Ridge Road in Saylorsburg. More than 50 baskets have been listed.

Doors open at 11 a.m. Bingo tickets are on sale until Monday.

Apple dumplings

Orders for homemade apple dumplings being made by the Willing Workers of Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, are being accepted. They are individually packaged and ready to take and bake at home.
