The Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug & Alcohol Commission’s 12th annual recovery event hopes to raise awareness about the disease of addiction and that recovery is possible.
This year’s event will be a Recovery Celebration. The organization works to minimize the stereotypes in regard to addiction and the struggles those with the disease of addiction face on a daily basis.
The community, including drug and alcohol professionals, medical professionals, spiritual leaders, grandparents, parents, children and others who have been directly and indirectly affected by substance use will be present to shed light on the common struggles of the disease.
The annual event, which will celebrate individuals and families in recovery, will be held Saturday on the grounds of Bethany Wesleyan Church, 1122 Fairyland Road, Lehighton.
Festivities will begin at 11 a.m. and last until approximately 3 p.m. and include food trucks and vendors, cornhole and a basket raffle, and camaraderie.
A recovery church service will follow the festivities.
