The Kidder Township Board of Supervisors voted at its meeting last week to cover 60 percent of the cost of a new ambulance for use in the township.

Members said the new ambulance for the Lake Harmony Rescue Squad is anticipated to cost nearly $1.6 million.

In other action, the supervisors approved a cost of $27,103 for four new digital radios for the police department.

The supervisors also awarded a five-year, $3.66-million solid waste contract with Anthracite Waste Services. The pact includes a provision for bulk pickup.

The supervisors said a new solid waste ordinance will be advertised, and the snow and ice removal contract will be readvertised for bids.

In other business, the supervisors:

• Appointed Nicholas Fiorito as code enforcement officer;

• Received the police report for August that notes officers received 291 calls and issued 98 traffic citations;

• During public comment, were urged by Beth Hurley, president of Love Kidder Township, to create rules for data centers, and also heard from her concerns about a stormwater permit for a proposed truck terminal;

• Received a request from George Spencer of Holiday Poconos for a left-turn signal from Route 903 into Lake Harmony, and;

• And were thanked by Lake Harmony Fire Chief Ralph Lennon for progress made on a dry fire hydrant on Wood Street.
