Fritz Spokas, executive director of the Carbon County Redevelopment Authority, submitted his resignation from the post during a meeting of the authority held in the Courthouse Annex, Jim Thorpe.

A native of Tamaqua, Spokas has been associated with the county’s planning office since 1976 and served the authority for the past 33 months. His resignation is due to his recent appointment by the county commissioners to the position of director of the Bureau of Economic Development.

He will be succeeded as the authority’s leader by Bruce Conrad, the county’s Planning and Development Office director, who will retain those duties as well as duties as the secretary of the Carbon County Railroad Commission.
