Monroe County Commissioners
The Monroe County commissioners approved the following items this week:
• Area Agency on Aging: Agreement with Mount Airy Casino Resort to hold the Monroe Senior Volunteer Program volunteer luncheon on Oct. 23, for $3,573; agreement with Barrett Administrative and Recreation Complex to use the large meeting room for an open house to showcase the Senior Center on Oct. 31 at no cost to the county.
• Children and Youth Services: Amendment to the existing purchase of service agreement with Berks County dated April 2 to extend previous contract to June 30, 2026, with no changes to rates or services; purchase of service agreements from July 1 to June 30, 2026, with Cornell Abraxas Group LLC with contract limit of $875,000 and George Junior Republic in PA with contract limit of $725,000, both for residential treatment.
• Payment of $3,800 to CMR Construction Inc. for installation of required weight limit signs on bridge number three, Evergreen Hollow Road over Pohopoco Creek.
• Opioid Grants from the Opioid Settlement Funds — Memorandum of Understanding and Agreement with Nehemiah Sober Living Inc., $10,000.
• Advertise the following: 2026 budget hearing dates and 2026 annual bids.
• Reappointment of Shea Madden as the trustee for the Northeastern Pennsylvania region on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Opioid Misuse and Addition Abatement Trust for a two-year term.
• Add these vendors to the county list of approved vendors: Sheriff — Premier Body Armor LLC; Fiscal — 3M EFH LLC and 183 EFH LLC
• Fiscal/Grants: 2024/25 Medical Assistance Transportation Program fourth quarter report, $149,427.50; submission of the 2024/25 State Food Purchase Program final report, $252,874.46; submission for Year 2 Continuation of the STOP Violence Against Women Grant, $125,000; sign the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program Cybersecurity Training and Phishing Simulation Tool Agreement, amount to be determined, from Sept. 4 to Nov. 30, 2027.
• 2025-26 Homeless Assistance Program and Human Services Development Fund sub-recipient allocations: HAP Allocation 2025-26 — Pocono Area Transitional Housing, bridge housing services, $16,470; Salvation Army of Monroe County, emergency shelter services, $16,470; Resources for Human Development, case management, $9,448; and Safe Monroe, emergency shelter services, $15,000; HSDF Allocation 2025-26 — CMP MH/DS, adult services, $48,000; Sights for Hope, generic services, $10,157; and Pocono Services for Families and Children, children and youth, $26,000.
• Monroe County Control Center: received financial audit for the fiscal year 2024 and the 2024 call breakdown per municipality.
• Office of Emergency Management: Service Agreement with Pye Barker and Safety LLC doing business as Keystone Fire and Security to provide building fire alarm system inspection for $3,153.30 from Dec. 1 to Nov. 30, 2026.
