State police at Bethlehem
State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incidents:
• Michele Valence, 62, of Slatington, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 1:09 a.m. Aug. 10.
Police said she was stopped in a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek on Route 22 in Whitehall, and showed signs of impairment. Police said she was administered standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody without incident. She was transported to the Lehigh County Central Booking Center for a blood drawn.
• Javier Alvarez, 39, of Bath, was charged with impersonating a public servant after an incident at 5:35 a.m. Aug. 3 on Airport Road, East Allen Township.
Police said he was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. They said a search warrant was executed on a 2020 Volkswagen Atlas, resulting in the discovery of suspected narcotics and associated paraphernalia, along with issued Pennsylvania State Police gear and soft body armor.
Police said a 27-year-old woman from Palmerton is listed as a victim of the incident.
Also involved in the incident was a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. Police said a Flying Cross PSP Cruiser jacket was also stolen in the incident.
• A 65-year-old Walnutport woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after an incident at 8:08 p.m. May 16 at the intersection of Route 873 and Mountain Road, Washington Township.
Police said she was driving a 2020 Subaru Outback at the time.
• Police responded to a missing-person report at 9:19 p.m. Aug. 13 on Friedens Road, Washington Township.
Police did not identify the missing person, but said it was reported the person departed the residence to go for a walk to an unknown destination and did not return home by the end of the day.
• A 71-year-old Slatington woman was charged with retail theft after police were called to the Weis Market, Route 873, North Whitehall Township, at 8:44 p.m. Aug. 13.
Police said she was caught “under ringing” items to steal the merchandise.
• A 68-year-old Slatington woman was targeted in a theft by deception incident police were called at 1:41 p.m. on July 2 to Sharon Drive, Washington Township.
She told police she was contacted by an unknown man who identified himself as “Jake” and advised her there were issues with her bank. He told the woman that she needed to purchase gift cards to rectify the problem. She told police she bought five $500 Apple gift cards and provided the numbers on each of them.
• Police were called at 11:05 a.m. May 30 to Glencrest Boulevard in Washington Township by a 37-year-old Germansville woman, who reported that she was the victim of an unauthorized use of a vehicle incident.
She told police that Christian Morales-Rivera had operated her 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee without her consent. Police said through their investigation it was determined the woman had moved out of the country in November 2024, leaving her vehicle in the care of residents of a property in the 5800 block of Monroe Court.
Police said that during that time, the woman’s daughter also resided at the location.
The woman said she returned home with plans to sell the vehicle, but learned several parking citations had been issued on the vehicle while she was away. The woman told police that the suspect had permission to drive the vehicle.
• Angel Perez, 37, of New Tripoli, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 2:25 a.m. June 25.
He was stopped in a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee for multiple traffic violations on Route 22 in Whitehall. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.
