The Pennsylvania State Police at the Troop N, Hazleton barracks, conducted a sobriety checkpoint from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 on roads in Carbon and Luzerne counties.
The checkpoint resulted in one motorist being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. In addition, seven motorists were interviewed but released after passing standardized field sobriety testing.
Police issued 56 traffic citations and 25 written warnings for violations of the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code.
