The Jim Thorpe and Tamaqua girls tennis teams continued their winning ways on Wednesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Notre Dame ES-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe made it back-to-back wins with a 3-2 non-league victory over Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg.

The Olympians swept singles behind Keira Reese, Noelanie Sepulueda and Anjali Chiulli.

Moravian Academy

The Palmerton boys, Lehighton boys and Jim Thorpe girls all posted 2-2 marks in Colonial League action at Moravian Academy.

Connor Hibell led all locals, as the Bomber harrier finished first in 16:33.22. Lehighton’s Elijah Pagotto followed in third at 17:41.88. The Indians’ Quinn Heimbach (eighth) and the Bombers’ Chase Ader (11th) also turned in top finishes.

On the girls’ side, Lehighton’s Claudia Pagotto, Palmerton’s Payten Fornaro and Jim Thorpe’s Stacy Bos placed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Northern Lehigh’s Emma Heil and Jim Thorpe’s Kayleigh Halenar capped the local top 10 in ninth and 10th.

Tamaqua hosted a Schuylkill League quad meet with Blue Mountain, Mahanoy Area and North Schuylkill.

The Lady Raiders finished 2-1 with wins over North Schuylkill and Mahanoy Area, while the Blue Raiders edged Mahanoy for their lone boys’ victory.

Aidan Elston stole the spotlight for Tamaqua, winning the boys’ race in 18:07. Teammate Parker Steencken followed with a sixth-place finish. Shaylee Gormley and Ava Jones placed sixth and seventh, respectively, to pace the Lady Raiders.

Ayla Essler-Kiryaman of Schuylkill Haven claimed the girls race in 24:24, while Shenandoah Valley’s Robert Espinal set the pace in the boys race with a winning time of 17:49.

Lexi Kehler led the Wreckers with a second-place finish in the girls race in 24:27. Alex Best placed third for the Weatherly boys, finishing in 20:32.
