Northwestern and Tamaqua both gained a pair of soccer wins on Tuesday.

The Tigers defeated Jim Thorpe in girls and boys action, while the Blue Raider boys downed Marian and the girls edged Northern Lehigh

Tamaqua-Northern Lehigh

Sophia Sitlinger scored the game’s only goal to lift Tamaqua to a 1-0 non-league victory over Northern Lehigh.

Sitlinger scored on a penalty kick in the opening half to give the Blue Raiders their second victory of the season.

Ceanna Gormley made six saves to earn the shutout win.

The Indians opened up the game in the second half behind goals by Monk, Claire Bridy and Miley Lutsko.

Bridy and Monk also added assists.

Kherington Yezik recorded a hat trick to lead undefeated Northwestern to a 12-0 Colonial League triumph over host Jim Thorpe.

In four games, the Tigers have outscored their opposition, 31-0.

Northwestern stormed out to an 8-0 first-half lead. Juliet Snyder contributed two goals to the winning effort, while Snyder, Amelia Glassberg, Sophia Schaeffer and Lexi Kercher each finished with two assists.

Cole Mertz and Caelan Stangil both scored four goals, and Logan Mesics had three to lead Northwestern to a 12-3 Colonial League rout over previous undefeated Jim Thorpe.

The Tigers quickly gained control in the opening half with all of 11 of their goals, as they won their third straight contest.

Mertz and Stangil also added three assists apiece.
