Weatherly developing new question format

Weatherly Borough Council wants to roll out a new format to ensure that residents’ questions and concerns are being addressed.

Councilman Michael Bellizia said that council doesn’t always have an immediate answer for residents attending meetings, and wanted to make sure they’re getting the right information.

He created forms that people could fill out with their name, address, phone and email, and an area where they could list their questions or concerns.

Some questions they can answer easily, such as what time is the borough office open, Bellizia said, while other questions may be more complicated.

The idea is to post the questions and the answers on the borough’s Facebook page so that other residents, who may have had the same question or concern, could see the answer, too, he said.

The name of the person asking would not be listed online, just the information sought.

Bellizia asked at least two residents who spoke during the meeting to fill out the forms.

One of the residents was Kathy Kurtz, who wanted to know more about the borough’s finances and budget, and if she could review budget statements.

Bellizia had forms available, but asked those attending to give him input on the form, too.

The new system will aim to answer residents within two weeks and establish a written record of all questions, he said.

He hopes to officially roll out the system in January.
