Turnpike crashes
State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• Two people were transported to the hospital after a crash at 12:40 a.m. on Aug. 25 at mile marker 67.5 in Washington Township.
Police identified one of the two as Travis Szilagyi, 44, of Hellertown. They did not identify the other driver.
They said the crash involved a 2007 Peterbilt dump truck operated by Szilagyi and a 2022 Dodge Ram, both of which were southbound. They said the Peterbilt hit the front passenger’s side of the Dodge.
Police said both vehicles were damaged and undriveable.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 12:07 p.m. on Aug. 11 at mile marker 86.4 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Taylor P. Raineri, 36, of Wilkes-Barre, was driving a 2020 Toyota Sienna northbound and could not move to the right or left because of a vehicle and a concrete barrier. They said the Sienna hit the other vehicle, a 2018 Subaru Forester driven by Sheila Van Valkenburgh, 77, of Downingtown. Both vehicles hit the concrete barrier.
• A 6-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl from Long Pond were passengers in a vehicle involved in a crash at 10:40 p.m. on July 31 at mile marker 93.6 in Kidder Township.
Police said they were transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township. They were passengers in a 2013 BMW driven by Michael Camino Jr., 43, of Long Pond.
Police said he was northbound when he lost control of the vehicle as it started to rain. The vehicle traveled up an embankment and started to overturn before coming to rest on its tires.
Camino and a third passenger, Debbie Desantis, 45, also of Long Pond, were uninjured, police said. The children had minor injuries.
