Polk adopts data center ordinance
At the Polk Township supervisors meeting, a hearing was held for a data center ordinance, after which the ordinance was adopted.
The ordinance includes a water requirement, emergency access, gated entrance, a fence, and be on no less than 5 acres. Data centers are a conditional use in industrial zones.
Solicitor James Fareri said: “We will amend the ordinance down the road. We just need to get something on the books.”
Fareri also noted a correction to the self storage ordinance. Self-storage facilities have conditional use in R3 zones and permitted use in commercial zones.
