State police at Schuylkill Haven - crashes
State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks reported the following crashes:
• Camron H. Houser, 22, of New Ringgold, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:08 p.m. Aug. 21 on East Main Street in Hegins Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the Hegins Area Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville. They said the severity of his injuries is unknown.
They said the crash occurred as Emily J. Zerbe, 33, of New Holland, was operating a 2023 Freightliner Cascadia west and was traveling down a grade when the brakes of the tractor locked and the trailer began to jackknife.
It came to a stop between both lanes and was struck by a 2025 Honda Accord driven by Houser.
Police said Houser was confined to his vehicle by its air bags and had to be extricated by emergency personnel.
They said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Zerbe, who was uninjured, was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Ronald J. Yezierski III, 28, of Tamaqua, was cited for following too closely after a two-vehicle crash at 10:24 a.m. Aug. 13 on Summer Valley Road (Route 895) in West Brunswick Township. No one was hurt in the incident.
Police said the crash occurred as he was driving a 2014 Subaru Legacy westbound when it struck the rear of a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Samantha J. Fisher, 39, of Pine Grove.
Police said the Legacy had disabling damage, and was towed from the scene, while the Equinox had minor damage.
• Dale J. Dewald, 63, of Gilberton, and Michael D. Shook, 21, of New Tripoli, had suspected minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 6:14 p.m. Aug. 19 on Route 61 in North Manheim Township.
Police said Dewald was transported by personnel from Schuylkill EMS to a local hospital, while Shook refused a medical transport from the scene.
They said the crash occurred when Dewald was driving a 2021 Kia Forte that struck a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Shook when the latter attempted to make a right turn into a parking lot.
Police said the Forte was towed from the scene.
Dewald was cited after the crash, according to police.
