Police said Rocco L. Mattero, 45, of Lehighton, and Helen C. Ukropec, 45, of Wallingford, were transported by personnel from the same ambulance corps to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, and the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township, respectively.

According to police, the crash occurred as Joseph J. Plechavy, 73, of Lehighton, was driving a 2024 Subaru Outback and was exiting a business in the 7600 block of Interchange Road when he attempted to turn left without clearance and struck a 2013 KTM motorcycle driven by Mattero.
