Jim Thorpe’s Kayden Spence and Pleasant Valley’s Payton Shillady both had hat tricks to lead their respective soccer teams to wins on Thursday.

The Olympian boys defeated Notre Dame East Stroudsburg, while the PV girls rolled past East Stroudsburg North.

Palmerton-Tamaqua

Palmerton received goals from five different players to gain a 5-2 non-league victory over Tamaqua.

The Blue Bombers led 2-1 at halftime, but scored the next three goals to take control. Tallying for the winners were Carter Huber, Brody Wells, Brett Smith, Logan Stroup and Wyatt Spalding.

Lusvin Lumas and Aidan Elston both scored for the Raiders, who also received 18 saves from Brayden Honey.

A hat trick from Kayden Spence helped Jim Thorpe earn a 6-1 victory over Notre Dame East Stroudsburg.

Hayden Meckes tallied twice for the Olympians in the first half, and added an assist, as the team raced out to a 4-0 lead.

Spence scored once in the opening half and twice in the second, while Blaze Flyzik contributed a goal and an assist.

The Bears, who finished with a 39-0 advantage in shots, also received two goals and an assist from Marta Perry.

Keegan Merklin chipped in with a goal and an assist.

The Blue Raiders’ Sam Vinc posted an 83 for medalist honors, while Jacob Fritzinger (89) also added a score in the 80s.

Walker McGinley ended up with a Scarlet Knights’ low with a score of 86.

Southern Lehigh handed Northwestern its first loss of the season, as the Spartans rebounded from a first game setback to gain a 21-25, 25-9, 25-21, 25-17 Colonial League victory.

The Tigers’ Kayla Schaffer and Leah Nagle both had big nights in defeat. Schaffer finished with 30 assists, 16 digs and four aces, while Nagle ended with 16 digs, 13 kills and three blocks.

Morgan Orsulak and JaeLynn Browdy both stood tall for the Panthers, as Orsulak collected 27 kills and Browdy finished with 11 kills.

Orsulak also added 18 assists and five service points, while Browdy chipped in with 20 assists and 15 service points.
