All systems were go when the Rev. Emil Sopoliga of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford, met with a planning committee last night in the rectory to diagram plans for the Second Annual Community Benefit.

The committee announced afterward the Panther Valley Visiting Nurse Association will be honored at the upcoming event.

The association’s current nurse is Mrs. Eva Koomar, R.N.

The association, whose current board chairperson is Mrs. Ann Dubosky, has been in existence in the valley since March of 1973 when it had just under 1,800 members. Currently, that membership is up to 2,270, covering the communities of Coaldale, Lansford, Summit Hill and Nesquehoning.

Mrs. Koomar averages 200 calls a month.
