State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:

• A 17-year-old Mount Bethel boy was cited for leaving the scene of an accident after a crash at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 17 on Route 115 in Ross Township.

Police said he was operating a Yamaha dirt bike when he attempted to pass a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Abby M. Haberle, 40, of Saylorsburg, and the bike struck he let side of the vehicle.

No one was hurt in the crash, including a 17-year-old girl from Wind Gap who was a passenger on the motorcycle, police said.

• Gladys E. Betancur-Delugo, 74, of Dover, New Jersey, had suspected minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 2:13 p.m. Aug. 16 on Penn Forest Road in Towamensing Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

They said she was a passenger in a 2019 Nissan Rogue that was driven by Luis C. Arboleda, 65, of Rockaway, New Jersey, that proceeded through the intersection with Koch Road without proper clearance and was hit by a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Paul E. Ward, 34, of Kunkletown.

Police said both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Arboleda was cited after the crash, according to police.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 11:01 a.m. Aug. 14 on Picnicwoods Road, East Penn Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Deborah A. Formica, 68, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2007 Honda that proceeded through the intersection with Church Hill Road without proper clearance and hit a 2022 Kia Sportage driven by Andrea L. Humanick, 35, of Lehighton.

Police said both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Formica was cited after the crash, according to police.

• A 17-year-old Effort boy was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 5:42 p.m. Aug. 14 on Blue Mountain Drive in Lower Towamensing Township. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2008 Honda Civic too fast for the roadway when he lost control of it while negotiating a right-hand curve and hit a guide rail.

The car had significant damage and was towed from the scene, police said.

• Loretta Parks, 78, of Kunkletown, and Joseph M. Adamcik, 24, of Lehighton, had suspected minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 3:39 p.m. Aug. 13 on Silver Spring Boulevard in Eldred Township.

Police said they were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS and Wind Gap Ambulance Association.

They said the crash happened when Parks was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox that proceeded into the intersection with Borger Road without proper clearance and was struck by a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Adamcik.

Police said both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene.

Parks was cited after the crash, according to police.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:20 a.m. Aug. 6 on Scenic Drive in Polk Township.

Police did not identify the drivers or their addresses, but said the operator of a 2011 Volvo told them she was merging into the southbound lane while attempting to avoid striking an animal when her vehicle hit a 2023 Toyota Corolla on its driver’s side.

The vehicles had minor damage, police said.

• Ragip Sabovic, 56, of Effort, was uninjured after a one-vehicle crash at 7L29 a.m. Aug. 6 on Barry Road, Polk Township.

Police said he was driving a 2024 Volkswagen Taos west when he swerved, traveled off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.

• Aeriel T. Stallworth, 18, of Catasauqua, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:08 p.m. July 25 on Blue Mountain Drive in Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Kia Rio westbound when she lost control of the car, which rolled over several times before coming to rest against a guide rail.

The car was towed from the scene, police said.

• Police said Penny Calandra, 59, of Blakeslee, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a two-vehicle crash at 10:40 p.m. July 9 at the intersection of Jonas and State roads in Chestnuthill Township.

Police did not provide the details of the crash except to say the victim is Fong Wang Wu, 31, of Easton, and that the vehicles involved were a 2014 Jeep and a 2011 Nissan Versa.
