Rush Twp. says more coming to Hometown Commons

More development will likely happen at the Hometown Commons shopping center in the village of Hometown.

Rush Township supervisors recently gave conditional approval to the subdivision of a lot at the site owned by Tamaqua Associates.

“It’s the lot to the east of Walmart,” said township engineer Bill McMullen of ARRO Consulting.

The parcel is near the Spare Time Lanes bowling alley.

“They’re creating another lot,” McMullen said.

In addition to the bowling alley, the Hometown Commons has a Walmart, Dollar Tree, The Shoe Department and other retail stores and restaurants.

In other business, supervisors:

• Approved an upgrade to the sewer and garbage billing and tracking system with Harris at a cost of $5,000. Supervisor George Gerhard voted against it.

• Changed the September meeting date from Sept. 18 to 7 p.m. Sept. 22.

• Approved Asphalt Maintenance Solutions’ invoice of $121,034 for the 2025 road improvement project.

• Approved the intergovernmental cooperation agreement with neighboring Ryan Township for the use of the John Deere mower. The two municipalities are splitting the cost of the equipment.
