Winners of Coaldale’s Bicentennial slogan contest were announced yesterday by the contest organizers.
Susan Kutza, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kutza of 240 W. Phillips St., submitted the winning slogan, “Through the Veins of Coaldale Flows the Warmth of Our Nation.”
Mrs. Ann O’Connell of 222 Second St. was the runner-up.
Mary Ann Kutza, Susan’s sister, won the borough’s essay contest on the theme “Coaldale’s Mining Heritage.”
The essay contest was judged by Michael Polansky and Stephen Zavish, both of Coaldale. Slogan committee judges were Mrs. Thelma Martinec, Andrew Magazzu and Joseph Conahan.
