A Summit Hill resident is seeking the public’s input on the establishment of a “mining heritage attraction” in the borough.
David Wargo, who serves as president of the Summit Hill Borough Council, said he’s acting as a private citizen in hosting a “town hall” meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3 to discuss the concept.
The meeting will be held at the Hilltop Community Center, West Ludlow Street.
The meeting, he said, is being held with the approval of the borough council.
It will be open to anyone — residents and non-residents — to “discuss the site for the Summit Hill mining heritage attraction and the benefits to the community, as well as steps moving forward.”
He said a proposed location has been identified and will be mentioned during the meeting.
“I’m looking for input and discussion,” he said.
Wargo said such a heritage attraction could potentially boost tourism to the Panther Valley as well as have economic benefits.
