Local Roundup: Results from Aug. 26

Pleasant Valley earned wins in multiple sports, while Panther Valley’s Morgan Orsulak reached a volleyball milestone on Tuesday.

The Bears defeated East Stroudsburg South in volleyball, and rolled past Bethlehem Catholic in boys soccer.

Orsulak, meanwhile, picked up her 200th-career ace during a win against North Schuylkill.

FIELD HOCKEY

Catasauqua-Palmerton

Kylie Bonser finished off a perfect set-up from Tessa Sander to score the game-winning goal to lift Palmerton to a 3-2 Colonial League overtime win over visiting Catasauqua.

Bonser netted her first goal of the day in the second period for the Bombers, while Chelsea Brown also scored for the winners.

After allowing two first-half tallies, Palmerton keeper Sarah Sabo and the defense kept the Roughies off the board the rest of the way.

Lauren Hawk’s hat trick and assist helped Saucon Valley earn a 4-3 Colonial League victory over visiting Northern Lehigh.

Kiley Slattery, McKenzie Chruscial and Ariana Williams all tallied for the Bulldogs.

NL keeper Madelyn Husack finished with 12 saves.

Morgan Orsulak registered her 200th-career ace as Panther Valley recovered from a first-game setback and posted a 21-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-19 Schuylkill League victory over North Schuylkill.

Orsulak paved the way for the Panthers with 26 service points, 19 assists, 17 kills, seven aces and three digs.

JaeLynn Browdy followed for PV with 16 kills, 15 assists, seven service points and three digs, while Jessica Hackash added 13 service points, 11 kills, seven digs and two aces.

After dropping the first game, Pleasant Valley stole the momentum and never looked back on its way to a 23-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-20 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over East Stroudsburg South.

Kira Hnat had a solid game all-around for the Bears, as she racked up eight digs, seven assists, seven kills and three aces.

Sasha Slozina chipped in with eight kills and two assists, while Mya Williams finished with 11 digs, four assists, three kills and two aces.

Tri-Valley spoiled Marian’s home opener, as the Bulldogs knocked off the Fillies 17-25, 25-8, 25-23, 25-22 for a Schuylkill League Division 2 victory.

After the teams split the first two games, the Bulldogs pulled out narrow wins in the next two sets.

Isabella Horvat (seven), Alena Lombardo (seven), Kali Grochowski (six) and Eris Hayes (three) combined for 23 kills at the net for the Fillies, while Lombardo added four blocks.

Horvat also finished with 13 digs, while Hayes also collected 18 assists and 15 digs.

Millie Black paced the Raiders attack with five kills, three aces and three digs, while Madison Schock contributed eight digs, two assists and two aces.

Tamaqua earned its third straight victory, using wins in both doubles matches, to register a 3-2 decision over Jim Thorpe.

Keira Reese and Noelanie Sepulveda both had single victories for the Olympians, while Alison Arthurton triumphed at No. 3 for the Blue Raiders.

Tamaqua claimed the win, though, as the teams of Skora Ndikwiki and Destiny Steinmetz, and Serenity Sanchez and Jasmine Eberts, gained straight-set victories.
