Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Included in this time is Service of Healing and Blessing of Prayer Shawls. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Congregational fellowship follows the worship service in Luther Hall. Please bring a food item to share.

The Service of Healing with prayers are said for those to help ease one’s emotional, physical and spiritual burdens to assist and cope with daily living. Prayer shawls are handmade by volunteers, and are to be used in times of joy or sorrow and ordinary times as a form of comfort during daily faith practices. The prayer shawls are available at no cost and may serve as a gift to a loved one.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Household goods and clothing donations will be accepted during store hours. There is a five bag limit. Use door 2 to bring clothing inside.

Quiet Communion: The first Saturday Quiet Communion worship will take place at 4 p.m. on Sept. 6.

Upcoming: “God’s Work Our Hands,” a national churchwide day of service, is Sept. 7. Hygiene kits for pantry clients will be assembled in Luther Hall during the Sunday School hour following the shortened worship time. All students and parents are asked to participate. Opening worship, chime choir and classes for students ages 3 through grade 6 will officially begin at 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 14.

BECC

Ministries:

Sister Chix, a support group for widows and divorced women, is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Bring a lunch, but dessert will be provided. To attend, call 570-386-4547. Enter through the lower parking lot entrance.

ESL classes are held at 6:30 p.m. every Monday, beginning Sept. 8. To register, call the church office. Enter through the upper parking lot.

Ladies’ Bible Study starting Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. for the Tuesday study and Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. for the Friday study. Study is called Giving God Your Future; a Women of Faith study. Lower parking lot entrance.

Men’s Bible workshop is the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Lower parking lot entrance.

AWANA — Kids Bible Club is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Upper parking lot entrance. Register at https://christfc.net/awana-bible-club/ or call 570-386-4547

Prayer Shawl Ministry is held the second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.

A Food Pantry takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m.-noon. Lower parking lot entrance.

Looking ahead: Benefit car show, Oct. 4 from noon-5 p.m. Held in conjunction with Tamaqua Safer Streets organization.
