Area girls raise money to fight hunger

Piper Fritzinger and Kinsley Warren recently operated a lemonade stand on White Oak Road in Nesquehoning to raise money for the Tamaqua Community Hunger Campaign.

The stand opened at 9 a.m. and closed at noon. Business was brisk throughout the morning with about 70 to 80 customers.

The girls sold two gallons of lemonade, one gallon of peach tea and one gallon of ice tea. Each customer was given a chocolate chip cookie.

The sales totaled $310 and all proceeds will be given to the October Tamaqua Area Hunger Campaign through the Zion’s Lutheran Outreach ministry.

Campaign officials congratulated Fritzinger and Warren on a job well done.

The hunger campaign officially runs all of October and ends with the Hunger Walk on Nov. 2.

The campaign is a project of the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network and Tamaqua Area Community Partnership. Planning for the October event began in June.
