The Palmerton Borough Park was a beehive of activity this week as hundreds of area music lovers gathered around the bandstand in the center of the park to hear a real old-fashioned Pennsylvania Dutch Concert.

Thirty-five members of the Mahoning Valley Variety Band, conducted by Palmertonian John DeSousa, presented the program in traditional German Band style.

John Faust of the Palmerton Recreation Commission served as master of ceremonies as he ad-libbed in Pennsylvania Dutch. He also sang several songs in the language common to the area while Charles Snyder, a member of the band, sang several songs in Pennsylvania Dutch.
