Local Roundup: Results from Aug. 23

Lehighton posted wins in field hockey and girls soccer on Saturday.

Other weekend victories were earned by Panther Valley in volleyball, Tamaqua in tennis, and Palmerton and Northwestern in girls soccer.

Panther Valley-PM West

Panther Valley opened its season by gaining a non-league sweep of Pocono Mountain West.

Morgan Orsulak paced the winners by posting 19 kills and 16 assists, while JaeLynn Browdy also registered 16 kills and 20 assists.

Lehighton handed Jennifer Lobasso a win in her first game as head coach, as the Indians cruised to a 7-0 non-conference victory over Bethlehem Catholic.

Sophie Wise sparked the Lehighton attack with five goals, while Chloe Moyer chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Teammate Jordan Hausman added a single score.

Williamson scored twice in the second quarter, and twice in the third to pave the way for the Konkrete Kids, while Lauren Reznick added a single score.

The Bombers’ Sarah Sabo finished with nine saves.

Lehighton opened the regular season on the right foot, as the Indians blanked East Stroudsburg South for a 2-0 non-conference victory.

Sadie Monk and Mylee Lutsko accounted for both Indian goals.

Lehighton’s Cassidy Litts grabbed eight saves for the shutout victory.

Northwestern received goals from four different players as the Tigers gained a 4-0 non-conference victory over Central Columbia.

Kherington Yezik, Kiersten Klein, Sophia Schaffer and Bella Smith all tallied for the winners.

Schaffer also had two assists, while Klein and Amelia Glassberg both finished with one.

The win on opening day was the largest margin of victory in the program’s 23-year history.

Aubrey Frable paced the Bombers with four goals and two assists, while freshman Avery Barry opened her varsity career with four goals and a helper.
