State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating a cruelty to animals case after multiple deceased dogs in trash bags were found dumped at a Schuylkill County site.

Police said they were called to a property on Route 183 in Wayne Township on Aug. 14 for a report of an individual dumping trash into a dumpster. They said upon looking through the bags, it was discovered multiple deceased dogs were in the bags.

Police said troopers on scene discovered one of the dogs was still alive. It was immediately rushed to a local veterinary hospital.

Police said a silver/gray Ford SUV was observed at the scene.
