Tamaqua area School Board
The Tamaqua Area School Board quickly moved through routine business and personnel moves Tuesday night.
The board renewed a contract with Sovereign Commercial Services for another year at a monthly cost of $5,546.66.
Also approved on second reading were policies on artificial intelligence and promotion and retention.
A 10th-grade student was also approved for early graduation.
Personnel
In personnel moves, the board:
• Rescinded motions approving Rebekah Fehnel as an elementary teacher and Antonia Cirstea as a special-education teacher.
• Hired Melissa Luckenbach of Schuylkill Haven as a teacher at a salary of $58,836, Lauren Shimer of Tamaqua as a teacher at $80,417, and Alexandra Costa of Orwigsburg, Lauren Cimino and Brianna Vlcek, both of New Ringgold, all at $48,030.
• Accepted resignations from Jillian Harding, certified school nurse at high school, and Cristy Clemson, a Tamaqua Elementary fifth grade teacher, both with separation dates to be agreed upon with superintendent.
• Accepted the resignation of Sabrina Moyer, a full-time paraprofessional.
• Hired Colleen Wilkinson of McAdoo as a part-time paraprofessional at a rate of $13.50 an hour.
• Reclassified Cierra McKee from a part-time to full-time paraprofessional.
• Approved Nicole Evans as a mentor to Makayla Harvey and Emily Barrett, all certified teachers.
• Approved the 2025-26 bus runs and bus driver list.
