Lansford Borough urges residents to complete survey
Lansford Borough sent out a second round of income surveys to residents as it seeks to qualify for Community Development Block Grant funds to reconstruct West Ridge Street.
“We cannot stress enough the importance of your cooperation in completing and signing this survey,” the borough said in a notice to residents for its website and social media.
“All households must complete the survey in order for CDBG funds to be utilized to reconstruct West Ridge Street,” the notice said.
The borough sent out notices earlier this summer, but only 27 out of the needed 53 households returned the surveys.
Carbon County’s Planning and Development Office allowed for a second mailing to the selected households in the neighborhood where the project is located, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope is included to facilitate the return.
The surveys must be returned by Aug. 29 to meet the deadline for the program.
“We appreciated the time taken to complete the survey and look forward to the borough being successful in utilizing CDBG funds for this important project,” the notice reads.
People can contact the borough at 570-645-3900 or David Bodnar, director of county planning and development office, at 570-325-3671 for more information.
The borough had also attempted to use CDBG funds to rehabilitate Cortright Street from Abbott to Water streets, but was unable to get the enough survey responses last year and shifted 2024 funds to a demolition project.
The borough may have to shift funds to another project again, if it doesn’t receive enough income surveys for the West Ridge Street reconstruction project in the next week, council President Bruce Markovich said.
The borough will only have days to submit a backup project following the Aug. 29 deadline for the income surveys.
