Bert Silver, owner of the Silver Furniture Company that was established 50 years ago in Lansford, announced the purchase of the Schwartz Brothers Furniture Company in Jim Thorpe.

The sale of the Schwartz firm brings to an end over 80 years of furniture retailing by members of that family in the Jim Thorpe community.

Silver, who operates stores in Lansford and Palmerton, said he will continue the policies and high standards set nearly a century ago by the late Frank Schwartz and continued by his successors, V.M. and Norbert Schwartz and the late Alphonsus Schwartz.

The Schwartz building will be temporarily closed while alternations and remodeling of the facility is done under Silver’s direction.
