Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• George J. Willis, 75, of Laurel Run, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 1:20 p.m. Aug. 16 at mile marker 78.8 in Franklin Township.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Jaguar south when the car had a possible tire failure, causing it to spin and strike the guide rail and a concrete barrier.

It sustained disabling damage, police said.

• Serenity Soto-Santiago, 37, of Scranton, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 3:59 a.m. July 5 at mile marker 67.1 in Washington Township. She was uninjured in the incident.

Police said she was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra north when it traveled onto the left side of the road and hit a concrete barrier.

It had disabling damage and was towed from the scene, police said.

• Cailey C. Neiswender, 23, of Mifflinburg, had possible injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 1:20 p.m. Aug. 16 at mile marker 78.8 in Franklin Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

Police said she was a passenger in a 2025 Mazda driven by Gabriel M. Souder, 19, of Danville. He was uninjured.

Police said he was southbound when he failed to slow down for traffic and the Mazda struck the rear of a 2005 Toyota 4Runner operated by Juan A. Almonte, 61, of Hazle Township.

Police said the Mazda had disabling damage and was towed from the scene, while the Toyota had minor damage.

Almonte was also uninjured.

Police said Souder was cited for following too closely.
