Back to school

The Panther Valley School District welcomes students back to school for the 2025-26 school year on Monday. It will be a full day.

Time schedules are as follows:

• JSHS (grades 7-12) 7:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m.

• Intermediate School (grades 4-6) 8:15 a.m.-3 p.m.

• Elementary School (grades K-3) 8:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m.

Senior Citizens

The Panther Valley Senior Citizens met on Aug. 11 with 12 members present.

President Diane Gould opened the meeting. The invocation, “Dreaming of Tomorrow,” was read.

Refreshments were served. One member is celebrating a birthday in August. Members who donated food were thanked.

The meeting closed and bingo was played.

A picnic will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at Two Kings in Hometown.

The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at the St. Ann’s Senior Apartments in Lansford.

Nesquehoning

Recreation Commission

The recreation commission will host Crazy Cone Day from noon-4 p.m. Sunday at How Sweet It Is Ice Cream parlor on East Catawissa Street. Nesquehoning children 12 and under are welcome to visit and get a free medium ice cream cone. Parents must have an ID ready for proof of residency.
