August 16, 2012 — Tamaqua opens its golf season on a winning note as the Blue Raiders register a 377-463 victory over Jim Thorpe at the par-70 Villas Crossing course. Mike Weinert earns medalist honors for Tamaqua by carding a 78. The winners, coached by Mike Luna, also receive an 86 from Troy Reinhardt and a 92 from Matt Stanek. Weinert, a junior, will go on to place third at leagues and fifth at districts while also qualifying for regionals.
