Carbon County Commissioners
Carbon County Commissioners, last week, approved the following:
• An extension of the Title XIX Medicaid Grant agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, state Department of Aging and Carbon County Area Agency on Aging to provide federal and state funding for AAA from July 1, 2020, to Sept. 30, 2025. The change extends the agreement three months and the amount is $26,090.
• Proposal from High Mountain Hardware Inc. of McAdoo to replace the door at the rear entrance of the conference room at the Communications Center. The total cost is $4,432.51.
• Maintenance agreement with Secure Technology Value Solutions of State College for one year for the Nutech Body Scanner at the correctional facility at a cost of $13,250. The agreement runs from Dec. 17 through Dec. 17, 2026.
• A quote from Trane of Wilkes-Barre to recover and dispose of contaminated refrigerant due to burnout failure at the correctional facility; as well as completed necessary repair work and charge with new refrigerant. The total cost is $12,247.
• Proposal from McHose Bros. Construction LLC to replace the roof on the Magisterial District Court office in Lansford at a cost of $18,000.
• A grant application for continued Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency funding of the victim witness RASA program. The project cost $44,344 and terms would run from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026.
• Quote from Dominion Voting to upgrade the election management hardware and software at a total cost of $23,844.
• Submission of an application to the Department of Community and Economic Development for the annual funding under the Election Integrity Grant program. The total funding is $232,298.92 for 2026.
• A human services non-block grant plan final report for 2025-2026 for the county’s Human Services Development Fund and Homeless Assistant programs in the amount of $84,755.
• An Local Share Account grant application for $95,806.42 for improvements to information technology infrastructure. The funds will replace the camera system for the administration building, server for the archives office and Area Agency on Aging and cloud storage for county data backups.
• Ratified an LSA grant application on behalf of the Mauch Chunk Opera House in the amount of $89,927 for creating a code compliant ADA entrance, as well as replacing uneven and deteriorated sidewalks and non-compliant steps.
• Payment of $5,000 grants from the opioid settlement funds s to both Palmerton and Weatherly police for National Night Out. They join Jim Thorpe, Lehighton and Nesquehoning police, which received the grants in June.
• A letter of termination from the SHARE Housing coordinator for the share housing counselor created by a federally mandated and funded program to address an increasing need for affordable housing options for seniors and seniors with disabilities. This is effective Aug. 20.
• Cost reimbursement agreement in the amount of $22,500 between the Pocono Counties Workforce Development Board and Career Development Education Services LLC-CDE Career Institute of Tannersville. This provides adult funded computer skills and job readiness training to eligible adults in Monroe County. Carbon County oversees the financial aspect of the four-county board.
• Cost reimbursement agreement in the amount of $325,156 between the Pocono Counties Workforce Development Board and Pathstone Cooperation to perform workforce investment activities and act as the single point of contact for the Employment, Advancement and Retention Network funds and programs within the PCWDA to Monroe County.
• Cost reimbursement agreement in the amount of $197,927 between the Pocono Counties Workforce Development Board and County of Pike to perform workforce investment activities and act as the single point of contact for the Employment, Advancement and Retention Network funds and programs within the PCWDA to Monroe County.
