Dinner tonight

Zion United Lutheran Church will hold its monthly free community dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. today.

The drive-up meal will consist of pork barbecue, pierogis with butter and onions, coleslaw, watermelon, dessert and a water bottle.

Normally Zion’s dinner is held on the third Wednesday of the month but that falls during the West End Fair Week so the church is hosting it a week earlier this month.

Meeting tonight

Eldred Township Planning Commission will meet at 7 tonight.

Missions dinner

The West End Mission dinner at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Last PVEN lunch

The Free Summer Lunch Program at the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network site will run its last offering tomorrow from 8 to 10 a.m. at the PVEN Food Pantry and Clothing Closet at 2334 Route 209, Sciota.

Families will receive 5 days’ worth of shelf-stable lunches for each child up to 18 years of age.

Young people over age 18 who are enrolled in school programs for persons with disabilities are also eligible to receive meals.

There are no residency or income requirements. Just let PVEN people know how many children n you have.

Cornerstone church

The Kresgeville church holds its worship service at 10 a.m., Sundays.

KoC meeting

The Knights of Columbus, which gathers at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Route 209, Brodheadsville, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.

AA meeting

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, twice weekly, on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.

Heart-shaped tub

An original heart-shaped tub is going to a lucky person on Labor Day, via a raffle.

It is now on display at the Monroe County Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 2610 Milford Rd., East Stroudsburg, and will remain so until Labor Day.

Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday an Sunday.

The raffle drawing will be held via Facebook Live.

Feast of Assumption

Roman Catholic Christians have a Holy Day of Obligation on Friday for the Feast of Assumption.

Mass times are: 5 p.m., Thursday, and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday.

Worshippers are invited to bring flowers or herbs to be blessed at Mass.

PVAG flea Market

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, 1086 Weir Lake Road, has announced its upcoming all-day, annual flea market. It is set for Saturday. Funds raised will benefit the Building Project Fund.

The church requests that the following guidelines be observed by all who donate items for the sale, which can be dropped off between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. the day of the sale: no items related to witchcraft; no smoking paraphernalia; and no alcohol.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church invites all to join in praying the Rosary every Saturday at 4:20 p.m., before the 5 p.m. Mass, and at 7:20 a.m. before the 8 a.m. Mass.

Quiet Valley has announced that the 2025 Quilt Raffle tickets are available. The quilt is called Pinwheel Stars.

Bingo Night

The West End Memorial American Legion is holding its open to the public Bingo Night on Monday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with card sales. The first game is called at 7 p.m. There will be game specials. Food and drinks will be available for sale.

Men’s breakfast

After the 8 a.m. Saturday service at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, a men’s breakfast is held.

Dog training

The Chestnuthill Parks & Recreation, is hosting a free dog training session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, by David with University of Pets, at the West End Regional Park-Dog Park at 3551 Merwine Hilltop Drive.

Backpacks blessing

All students at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church are invited to bring their backpack, book bag or binder to receive a blessing and special treat from the parish during any of all Masses on Saturday or Sunday.

Shawl Ministry

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet Tuesday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Zion Lutheran’s Knit & Crochet meeting at the church in Brodheadsville, meets at 1 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

Paddling trip

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is offering an overnight Delaware River Paddling trip Tuesday.

It entails a 20-mile canoe trip along the Delaware River and includes rental, meals, transportation, river interpretation and a fun time. Camping gear, snorkels and dry bags also available.

Senior meals

St. Luke’s University Health Network provides meals for Seniors (65 or older) at the Monroe and Carbon campuses.

Pocono Craft fest

Quiet Valley will host the Pocono State Craft Festival on Aug. 23.

Alzheimer’s walk

A walk to end Alzheimer’s is being held a the Northampton Community College in Tannersville on Sept. 6. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The opening ceremony starts at 10 a.m. and the walk at 10:30 a.m. Register at act.alz.org/monroePA

Grief Support

The Brodheadsville Area Support Group, hosted by St. Luke’s Hospice Bereavement Program, will meet at the Western Pocono Community Library from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Sept. 17, and Oct. 15.
