Many have seen the pride in local businesses as they display a banner showing they bought a prize animal from the 4-H auctions at the various fairs and roundups.
The Carbon County Fair auction was no different as Luke Graver took home $1,650 for his grand champion steer. It was purchased by Charles Snyder Farm Equipment at nearly double the market value.
A banner was taken home by the purchaser of each champion and reserve champion animal, and a flower from Sensinger Nurseries.
The grand champion pig was that of Christiana Graver, who received $800 from the Hometown Farmers Market.
Kenny and Lee Bond bought the grand champion market goat from Colt Seltzer for $510; Fred Reinhard bought the dairy beef steer from Taylor Patterson for $1,050; and Graver’s market lamb went for $700 to Lehighton Ford.
