August 13, 1971 — Bob Spezialetti knocks in five runs to lead Lansford to an 8-6 victory over Jim Thorpe in a Panther Valley Little League tournament contest that clinches the championship for the winners. Spezialetti connects for a three-run homer in the first inning to give his team an early lead. After Thorpe rallies to take a 6-3 advantage, Lansford comes back with four in the fifth to go ahead for good. Spezialetti once again provides the big hit, blasting his second homer — a two-run shot — while Ken Sabol adds a two-run triple. Spezialetti also earns the pitching win.
