Carbon approves appointments

Over the last month, Carbon County officials have approved several appointments and resignations to various boards and advisory committees.

The commissioners said that for the vacancies created by the resignations, if a person is interested in serving, they should send a letter of interest and resume to the commissioners’ office, attention commissioners, 2 Hazard Square, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229.

The actions are as follows:

• AAA Advisory Board resignation: Mary Zeleznock of Weatherly, representing community.

• AAA Advisory Board reappointments — two-year terms: the Rev. Sharon Frye of Weatherly, Jean Zimmerman of Weatherly and Helene Kennedy of Hazleton, all representing community; and Sandy Gallagher of Jim Thorpe and Joseph Sebelin of Jim Thorpe, both representing consumer.

• AAA Advisory Board reappointments — one-year terms: Suzanne D. Smith of St. Luke’s University Health Network and Ellen Cauthen, Carbon County Area Agency on Aging volunteer, both representing community; and Garry Wentz of Parryville, Thomas A. Williams of Parryville and Diane Luedtke of Jim Thorpe, all representing consumer.

• Animal Shelter Advisory Commission resignations: Peggy Dart, effective July 16; and Kristina Czwakiel, effective Dec. 31.

• Housing Authority reappointment — five-year term: Shakira Green of Lehighton.

• Local Emergency Planning Committee appointments: Ashley Klemczak, Carbon County Conservation District; Roger Shoenberger, local farmer; Joshua Houck, EMA-LVHN; and Dr. Daniel Plavin, St. Luke’s Jim Thorpe.

• Volunteer Emergency Management Agency deputy: Koy Wentz of Lehighton.
