Charles J. McHugh Sr. was installed as commander of American Legion Post 304, Jim Thorpe, during a ceremony held at the post home. The installing officer was Tom Harding, 30th District commander.

Others who took their oaths for the local post were Ervin Schlecht, first vice commander, Raymond McHose, second vice commander, Charles J. McHugh Jr., finance officer and service officer, William Schlecht, chaplain, Frank Thompson, Marcus Lines and Al Micelli, sergeants-at-arms, and Leroy Strohl Jr., adjutant.

McHugh was also seated as commander of the Carbon County Interpost Association.
