Lewistown Tabernacle hosts camp meeting Aug. 22-Sept. 2

The Lewistown Valley Tabernacle will host the 112th Lewistown Valley Camp Meeting with events from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1.

The tabernacle is at 614 Valley Road, Tamaqua, and close to Heisler’s Dairy Bar.

George Holley of Ohio will be the evangelist from Aug. 22 to 28, and Jeff Shelburne of Indiana will be the song leader and evangelist from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1. Shelburne is an ordained minister and talented musician on the trumpet and fluegal horn.

Missionary Night will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 30 with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Schuylkill County. The goal of the nonprofit religious organization is to see every child reached with the Gospel of Jesus.

Mercy Run will perform at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 31. They are a traditional-style gospel music group from central Pennsylvania. They strive to encourage Christian believers and to tell the lost that there is a better way through life that starts with salvation through Jesus Christ.

On Labor Day, Sept. 1, Brothers in Grace will perform at 2:30 p.m. The group, based in south central Pennsylvania, has ministered throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, delighting audiences with their unique Southern Gospel style music and tight harmony. Food will be available for purchase on Labor Day.

All are invited to all events.

The tabernacle has a long history. Starting in 1913, outdoor services were first held in a tent. The present day tabernacle was built at some before 1925. Many wonderful messages have been heard within these walls each year.
